Storytelling is a timeless art that captures the hearts and imaginations of readers young and old. 7-12 Grade Creative Writing 2 will teach Upper Middle School and High School students how to better implement what they learned last semester about plot, conflict, and character creation. Throughout the course of the semester, each student will not only review the fundamentals of how to craft a captivating story, they will also complete a short story or novelette of their own. By taking the lessons taught in class and the feedback offered from their fellow students in peer critique-groups, they will work on writing a polished story with expectations tailored towards their further growth from last semester. At the end of the semester, there will be a small celebration for all of their hard work, and each student will receive a printed copy of a book containing a compilation of stories from different students in their class.

Note: This class is a deeper examination of ideas from the fall, but there will be a review at the beginning of the semester and in the past students who have jumped in just for the spring have still succeeded in the class. Learning storytelling skills is valuable at any point!
