Storytelling is a timeless art that captures the hearts and imaginations of readers young and old. 3-6 Grade Creative Writing 2 will teach Upper Elementary and sixth grade students the basics of plot, conflict, and character creation. Throughout the course of the semester, each student will not only learn the fundamentals of how to craft a captivating story, they will also complete a short story of their own. Whether your student is new to writing or has taken this class before, they will enjoy the fast pace of the games and the competitions as they work towards their goals. By taking the lessons taught in class, they will work on writing a story between 500-1,000 words to enter in the class short story competition, as well as writing team short stories as a group.

Prerequisites: reading at a solid 3rd grade level or above, writing a minimum of one complete paragraph with basic capitalization, punctuation and spelling, access to a computer or clear handwriting, ability to react to something they read, joy for writing!
