This course is an introduction to speech communication which emphasizes the practical skill of public speaking. This course’s goal is to prepare students for success in typical public speaking situations and to provide them with the basic principles of organization and research needed for effective speeches. In this course students will learn how to:

  • Conduct through research through various source types
  • How to verify sources
  • Putting together a presentation
  • Visual aids
  • Presenting to groups
  • Basic debate skills
  • Body language
  • Speaking in public and to large groups
  • Techniques for dealing with stage fright
