Join us for an exciting introduction to the world of crochet and knitting! This hands-on class is perfect for beginners aged 12 and up who are eager to learn the basics of these timeless crafts. Whether you want to create cozy scarves, colorful blankets, or unique handmade gifts, this class will get you started on your creative journey.
This class is intended for students with good to excellent fine motor skills. A younger student with some practice in fiber arts or that has sufficient fine motor skills is also welcome!
What You’ll Learn: Basic Techniques: Learn essential stitches for both crochet and knitting, including chain stitch, single crochet, knit stitch, and purl stitch. Understanding Tools: Familiarize yourself with the tools of the trade, such as hooks, needles, and yarn types. Projects: Begin a simple project to put your new skills to work! We will make a crocheted bookmark and animal. In knitting, we will create a set of dish clothes and a cup cozie.
Materials Needed: Materials will be provided for this class to ensure consistency in instruction. Students will keep all their supplies to take home at the end of the course. (The additional material costs are considered in the total class fee.) Who Should Attend: This class is designed for anyone with good to excellent fine motor skills (usually 12 years and older) whether you’re completely new to fiber arts or looking to refresh your skills.
